Us mixed race kids are more than just one culture.
That seems obvious right?
Well clearly it’s not to the majority of society.
They see us and they are like “that persons brown,” or something of the sorts race through their mind on a loop.
I’m mixed race Black Carribean and White British and I get asked if I identify with being black or white.
….I’m MIXED RACE!
Why does society not allow me to identify with both simultaneously?!
I am not one or the other, my genetics ARE LITERALLY MIXED.
Us mixed races kids are never allowed to be just that, be mixed race.
No wonder so many of us suffer from huge identity crisis’ growing up. It’s hard, it truly is.
